You can't compare the teams that USC and AU had in 03 in an effort to decide who was best in 04...it's not the NFL. AU hadn't even come into their own in 03..and USC's D line wore the Tigers out. Alot changes in a year in college football. AU wasn't supposed to have #3 UT 31-3 at halftime in 04 either.

USC would have run all over AU that year. Like I said, if AU was such a power that year, why didnt they wreck VT and their pathetic offense?

Not surprising........Tennessee is the most overrated team besides OU year in and year out.

I thought the thread was about to get back on Kurt Busch and racing a time or two. Hey Mods what happened to staying on topic, instead of joining in on the destruction of a thread. I don't mind reading one or two off the wall things in a thread but dang here we have about 14 pages of it (LOL). I seen the wreck, and I didn't think Busch wrecked him on purpose.I don't keep up with Nascar like I used too. Does Stewart and Busch have a bad history? I did think the pit row scene was a dangerous thing, and some kind of action should be taken toward Busch for that.

I realize that and both teams got better. I know we both have our reasons but their team(USC) wasnt even that good(their defense) in 05 and it still took THE greatest single game performance ever to beat USC. Keep in mind too, that 04 team shut down Adrian Peterson. I know Brown and Williams were good but Oklahoma's strengths and Auburn's strengths were the same. Auburn's strength was their Oline too and Oklahoma still didnt do much with a Jamal Brown and Davin Joseph anchored line. Jason White, in college, was just as good as Campbell, probably better. Defensively, did anyone ever stop USC??? Mutua, Lutui, Justice, and Kalil have to be a part of one of the greatest lines of all time with Leinert, Bush, and White, Byrd, Smith, and Jarrett being one of the best collections of offensive talent that CFB ever has seen. I just think that 04 SC team was one of the top 3 teams ever. I dont think they would have had that much trouble with Auburn on a neutral field. We will just have to disagree on this one.

Bottom line......AU goes undefeated as the SEC Champion...USC was happy to get OU....and I don't know that USC got any "better" from 03...they were AP champions in 03.

It's true that AU had some patsies..but so did USC...AU beat 5 ranked teams...4 in regular season...USC just played 2 in regular season...And USC hasn't played 4 games to end the season like AU did that year since the stone age...
